The Worthy Woman of 2011
A Study of Proverbs 31:10-31 Proverbs 31:10-31 sets the tone for God’s expectation of women for all time. While there is much to be said…
Delicate Power
Often, by puberty, young ladies are not as physically powerful as their male counterparts, whose muscles tend to develop larger. Yet every female possesses a physical power in her shape and form that can overwhelm or renew a young man. There is power in dressing to be drooled over, but that is an abuse of God’s gift. Modesty has its own delicate power that brings glory to God and no cause for stumbling to men.

Editorial: Issues in this Issue
It is our policy that if an article in the magazine is responded to, the response and a rejoinder will be published in the magazine, completing the exchange. This policy has been followed consistently in the past, and we see no compelling reason to change.
May Women Speak in Bible Classes
The real question, then, deals with what Paul meant by the word “assemblies.” For, wherever these “assemblies” occur, women may not speak, but there is no prohibition from women speaking outside of these “assemblies.” Thus, I shall attempt to define this “assembly,” using only the context of 1 Corinthians.
Contending for the Faith: Texas Baptists Vote “No”
It matters not at all how the Baptists or any other sect votes on any issue or doctrine. All the edicts of all the ecclesiastical bodies of the all the earth count for nothing and mean even less. What is changed by their vote? Are the resolutions of men bound upon the word of God? Can they alter what God has said? No, not one syllable!
The Distaff: The Role of Women in the Local Church
The work of women in the local church must be defined by gospel standards and not by our culture. The way we live is vastly different from New Testament times but God has permanently set the pattern for work and organization of the church outside of time and human influence. Regardless of how much more social freedom women have today, the work of women in the church is the same as it was when Priscilla traveled with her husband, when Dorcas made clothes for the needy, and when Phoebe was serving the church in Cenchrea.
Queries and Explications: Christian Women Working Outside the Home
In this increasingly materialistic society, the danger of the home being distorted and moved away from its God designed order is ever apparent. Modern cultural and societal trends are effeminizing men and masculizing women. It is a perversion. Twisted children, whose souls are torn and bent out of their natural state, are what we have to show for a generation which has grown up without a mother in the home to nurture and to nourish, to guide and to govern, and to love and to labor. Indeed, for some there will be hell to pay for their neglect and abandonment of God’s pattern for the home and family relationship.
Solid Food: Does Acts 6 Authorize Women in Business Meetings?
Acts 6 is a part of the inspired record that teaches us how to allow the church to function under male leadership while respecting all the principles taught elsewhere in the word of God regarding the role of men and women in the kingdom of God.
The Distaff: Why Women Should Come to the Lord
There are many reasons why women should come to the Lord and this list could go on. The most important reason is to obtain salvation from the sentence of death caused by our sin. We may be comforted in knowing our Lord’s loving attitude toward women of protection, compassion, honor, and friendship. We can be assured that our Lord loves our children as much as we do and has provided a way for them to be with us forever. One need only to obey the simple plan of salvation given by God in His word.
