“Literally” – A Discussion of Definitions
I recently read an interesting short article on the use of the term “literally” that I want to share with you, then comment upon. Two…
Consequences of New Hermeneutics
Science is driving modern culture, but most of us haven’t even got license plates. We are inundated with various claims of science, all of which purport to be authoritative. Yet, few people have scientific expertise. Most of us are left to wonder which claims are true and which are false.
Age of the Earth
Those who would attempt to harmonize the Bible and the theory of modern evolution must fit 15 billion years into the book of Genesis. They also must stretch the Genesis genealogies to accommodate an old earth demanded by evolutionists.
The Genesis Account and Ancient Myth
Does Genesis 1-2 represent the vestiges of a primeval myth of the origin of the world? Comparative features are the most potent ally of the liberal scholar.
Some people are satisfied with such an explanation. But what are the consequences of such a view? They would certainly be that all of the Bible is suspect on the same ground. The Simple Gospel: A Literal and Narrow Interpretation
The 31 year old quote from brother Harrell is truly a “jewel” because it reflects sound doctrine as revealed by the Almighty God (Matt. 7:13-14, 21-23). We lament that more brethren today are not echoing the same truth instead of condemning it. May God help us to endeavor to fulfill such service to Him.
Confusion on the Covenants: Covenant and New Hermeneutics
Brethren, if the priesthood did not change and Christ did not give a new covenant, how are we going to look to the New Testament as a pattern for our worship, organization or work? This theory is indeed the “new hermeneutics” in different attire, and like any other rejection of New Testament authority will result in total departure from God’s pattern.
