Great is the Mystery of Godliness
In God’s revelation, we are blessed with the most important truths known. They are timely, are worthy of examination – and demand a proper response from each of us.
Signs Given for Faith and Salvation
God told Ezekiel that he would “take away from you the desire of your eyes with a stroke” (Ezekiel 24:16). The “desire” of the prophet’s…
Paul’s Concern For the Souls of Men
Paul was perhaps the greatest evangelist of all time, but his success is not a secret. He was busy taking advantage of every opportunity to declare the whole counsel of God to everyone, calling upon them to obey the gospel. His care for the souls of men is shown in the fact that he was willing to suffer personally for their salvation. We must do the same.
Video Script: What Must We Believe? (8)
Just about everyone accepts that faith saves, but an important question often remains unasked. What, or who is it I must believe in? Now the simple answer is, you must believe in Jesus. John stated in his gospel, “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life” (3:16).
Video Script: The Power of the Gospel (7)
We are so thankful for the message of the cross. You will notice that each gospel sermon recorded in the book of Acts, leading to the conversion of men, dealt with the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus our Lord. Now, going back to Romans we noted that the gospel is God’s power to salvation. And, as those who have benefited from that message, we feel compelled to share it with others.
7 – The Power of God Unto Salvation
In this video, Stan affirms the statement of the apostle Paul, that the gospel is God’s power unto salvation for everyone who believes.
The Open Ended Gospel
We have in our nation the majority of people who live out a buffet religion, rather than the true faith that God longs for us to have. By using the phrase buffet religion, I simply mean that there are those who pick and choose certain things out of the scriptures in which they want to follow, and leave the rest, much like we do at a food buffet.
Preaching the Gospel With the Jerusalem Ring
Our preaching must be clear, easily understood, and authoritative. So, out go the references to the latest research in psychology and any trendy information as proof or authority of what we teach. And out goes any references to Max Lucado and any others of his scattering breed, and out goes the self-inflated, the hireling, the self-promoting preachers from among us. Associate Editorial: The Simplicity of the Gospel
The Gospel is simple. It takes no great intellect to read the story of Jesus, and realize that after His resurrection, He had a message for the entire world that needed to be and would be carried across the lands. “And he said to them, ‘Go into all the world and proclaim the gospel to the whole creation. Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned'” (Mark 16:15-16).
White Unto Harvest: The Seed is the Word of God – 2
The gospel is yet sufficient today in meeting all the needs of all who seek the Lord (2 Timothy 3:16-17; 2 Peter 1:3). As preachers of the gospel let us cast all our cares upon the Lord and make his ways our ways (1 Timothy 4:16). The examples reviewed in this article of first-century preachers helping Christians to both overcome mistaken ideas and repent of error are lessons for us today. May they encourage us as we seek to serve God no matter where we may find ourselves today.
White Unto Harvest: The Seed is the Word of God
The gospel has in itself innate power much like a seed. Let it be sown in the hearts of men and God will give the increase (1 Cor. 3:6). Let it be followed and changes will result in the lives of men. Let it be kept in a good and honest heart and much fruit will be born to the glory of God. Let it be followed through the uneven journeys of life and eternal glory will be the result. May all who preach, whether at home or in foreign lands, preach the gospel to those who hear them!
Associate Editorials: Communication and the Word of God
This is written to communicate with you concerning the good news of salvation in Jesus Christ. Have you accepted Jesus by faith (Hebrews 11:6)? Have you repented of your sins (Luke 13:3)? Have you confessed your faith in Jesus (Matthew 10:32; Romans 10:9-10)? Have you been baptized for the remission of your sins (Matthew 28:18-20; Mark 16:15-16; Acts 2:38; Romans 6:1-7)? Are you following Jesus as a faithful disciple (Revelations 2:10)?
In the Steps of the Savior: The Gospel, Salvation & The Sinner
One must hear the gospel, believe it, repent of his sins, be baptized and continue to do all things commanded by Christ through His apostles. The one who meets those conditions is a disciple of Christ, saved and enjoys the remission of sins.
Doctrine-Gospel Distinction
Neo-Calvinists make an unscriptural distinction between gospel and doctrine
The Power of God To Salvation
Seeing the manifold grace and power that God has extended to us in the gospel, let us strive to be more diligent each and every day to make our calling and election sure. Let us run the race that has been set before us, seeing that Christ has so run. And let us study to show ourselves approved unto God, a people that not only know the word but who are also not afraid to teach it.
White Unto Harvest: Meat For All This People
As we seek to convert the lost today, both at home and abroad, let us learn the lesson Jesus taught so long ago. He is the source of “meat for all this people.” In preaching his word, we preach the message he ordained. In so doing, we use the one method he ordained for calling men to him (Jno. 6:44-45; 18″37). The spiritual needs of man are as great today as ever (Rom. 3:23). Let us go forth seeking to meet those needs with the bread of life the Father has given us (Jno. 6:48-51).
The Simple Gospel: Telling the Story
The Word of God is plain and simple. We need to let it work in us. We need to be sure we are letting the world see Jesus in us when we tell them of Jesus. Otherwise our teaching is vain. No one wants to follow a person that does not live what they teach. The early disciples brought others to Christ by their way of life as well as the spoken word. Peter said an unbelieving mate can be converted by one’s way of life without a word being spoken.
The Power of the Gospel
The power of the gospel is persuasive. It can only produce repentance when it is heard by honest hearts seeking the truth. Stephen’s tormentors were not interested in the truth, they simply wanted to protect their precious conventions (cf. Acts 7). The Jews on Pentecost however were sincerely seeking forgiveness, “Men and brethren, what shall we do?” (Acts 2:37).
The Simple Gospel: Nothing Except Jesus
Christian families often place membership in a congregation not because of the potential good they can do in that fellowship, but rather based upon how many “young couples” there are, or how socially minded they might be, or what the group has “to offer” them. It seems that we too have been taken in by glamour and glitz, and are more concerned with how attractive and pleasant is the package surrounding the message, than we are in the message itself.
Understanding Christ and the Church (Gospel and Doctrine)
There are efforts that seek to separate Christ from the church; gospel from doctrine. Though often discussed separately, both of these attacks on our subjects have their root in the same error: a rejection of Christ’s authority and a desire to practice lawlessness (Mt. 7:15-23).
