Can We Talk About Your Porn Stash?
Whether it is nestled away on paper in a nightstand, lurking somewhere on a computer hard drive, or available to you by clicking on a web page, your porn stash is a filthy, addictive, morally expensive habit. You feel like you have been fortunate so far that no one has found it, but you would be better off if they did. Maybe then you would feel compelled to quit. Instead, you’re just digging deeper.
Your Signet, Cord and Staff
We are fighting a daily battle against sexual temptation and every day the devil ratchets up the steam. The misery inflicted upon people who only wanted a few moments of experimentation and ecstasy lasts forever. Stay out of the foothills of temptation and choose better company with better habits. Flee sexual immorality and youthful lusts.
Another Ox Goes to the Slaughter
Sexual abstinence until marriage builds a hedge around your moral purity, protecting your life and your spirit from an immoral tempter. Do not be deceived. Don’t try to see how close you can get or how much you can test your will. Flee fornication!
The Exception to the Rule: Fornication
God has determined the one exception to the rule of “one man, one woman, for a lifetime.” It is fornication. It is the sole exception, and God’s law must be respected.
Works of the Flesh: Fornication
I know I do not want to be in that number whom God rejects. I do not want to hear Him say, “I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity” (Matthew 7:23). I do not want to hear my Lord tell me, “Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels” (Matthew 25:41). Therefore, let us avoid the temptations which lead to such sins as fornication, and all the others mentioned in Galatians 5. Let us avoid these that we might stand pure and holy in His sight. Certainly, this is what our Lord wants from us (1 Timothy 5:22; 1 Peter 1:15-16). Our responsibility is to be engaged in “the works of God,” (Psalm 78:7; John 6:28-29; 1 John 3:7) not “the works of the flesh”! (Galatians 5:19)
