Evidences of Faith: The Blood of the Lamb
In this present case, the book of Exodus was written about fifteen hundred years before the New Testament was begun, yet somehow the author could foreshadow the cross of Christ.
Evidences of Faith: Why the Dinosaur Bird Won’t Fly
the only viable option to the General Theory of Evolution is the account given in the first chapter of Genesis. There are too many people – evolutionary scientists among them – who are not willing to accept this account, or to submit to its implications.
Evidences of Faith: A Man Named James
Josephus’ account provides us with corroborating testimony not only of Jesus’ existence, but also of the fact that He was called Christ. It also harmonizes with the New Testament claim that Jesus had a brother named James who became a prominent disciple, and that the early disciples were persecuted by the sanhedrim. These things being so, we have yet one more piece of evidence to suggest that the biblical account is accurate and reliable.
Evidences of Faith: Eyewitness Testimony
Moreover, when we read Paul’s writings (Romans through Philemon), it appears that he was a highly intelligent man who had a completely rational mind: his method of argumentation is thoroughly logical. It is reasonable to conclude, based upon the available evidence, that Paul was in his right mind. We have every reason, therefore, to regard Paul as a reliable eyewitness of the resurrected Christ.
Evidences of Faith: The Snake on the Pole
The result of the snake bite was death, as is the case with sin. The bronze serpent was raised up on a pole for all to see, as was Jesus on the cross. And Jesus on the cross, like the snake on the pole, represented the very thing for which He was the cure. Thus the incident with the fiery serpents provides us with another vivid foreshadow of Jesus, a foreshadow written 1500 years before He offered Himself for us.
Evidences of Faith: Delivered from Slavery
The parallels between the passing through the Red Sea and baptism into Christ are extensive. This is just one more example of why this volume of sixty-six books written by over forty authors over some fourteen hundred years, cannot be a mere collection of interesting stories.
Evidences of Faith: Going to the Ants
The programs on my computer were written by intelligent beings; in fact, it is inconceivable that they should have happened by accident. The ants’ programs appear to be even more complex than those on my computer. Am I to believe they happened by chance?
Evidences of Faith: The Walls of Jericho
why do scholars still insist on doubting the historical accuracy of the scriptural accounts? That may be the real unsolved mystery of the Bible! However, regardless of its detractors, scripture continues to prove itself to be reliable and true. And those of us who put our trust in God’s word continue to find ourselves on solid ground.
Evidences of Faith: Parallel Offerings
God orchestrated an event in Abraham’s life to symbolize what He intended to do with His own Son some two thousand years later: He created a living parable. He then saw to it that this event was recorded in writing, so that we could look back and see that what He accomplished in Christ, He had planned all along. “Oh, the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are His judgments and unfathomable His ways!” (Romans 11:32). Amen.
Evidences of Faith: An Introduction
We are not required to accept without question that scripture is from God, but to look at the facts and draw some rational conclusions as to its origin. Only then, after we come to the conclusion that scripture is God’s word, do we follow it faithfully – even when its instructions are contrary to what we would have thought to be right.
