Contending for the Faith: "The Four Gospels Are All We Need"
Some hold to the contention that the gospel accounts are all the direction we need in our lives, and that the apostle Paul actually corrupted the teachings of Christ. This contention is false.
Be An Example … In Purity: Purity in Doctrine
Impure doctrine—speaking smooth things to satisfy an ungodly yearning for guilt assuagement rather than true redemption—both hinders the spread of the glad tidings of Christ and leads to a severance of fellowship with God and brethren. Tolerating impure doctrine is a deal with the devil, a willingness to exchange everlasting peace with God for a temporary peace on Earth among men. Woe unto both those who propagate and those who tolerate the cancer of impure doctrine.
Solid Food: Proper Use of Text and Context
Any time that I interpret a passage so as to include any kind of fellowship with sin, I have obviously missed the mark. “God is light and in Him is no darkness at all” (1 Jn. 1:5); “no lie is of the truth” (2:21). To twist 2 John 9 or any other passage of scripture so as to extend the hand of fellowship to error is to violate both text and context.
