Evidences of Faith: What the Fossil Record Shows
The General Theory of Evolution is an intellectual house of cards. It will eventually go the way of all of the great scientific errors that preceded it. Meanwhile, the plain truth stands unblemished and irrefutable: In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. Man may hide from this all-important truth, but he cannot escape it.
Evidences of Faith: The Serpent’s Doom
we can see evidence of a divine hand in the writing of the various books of the Bible. We see God’s promise to the serpent fulfilled: and who else but God could foretell an event centuries before it comes to pass? And notice that the New Testament writers do not make it a point to expressly tell us that Jesus is the Seed foretold in Genesis, whereas they certainly would have if they were fabricating a story to fit the prophecy.
Evidences of Faith: Nero’s Scapegoats
It is good to know that the facts are on our side, and we do not need to be intimidated by the false assertions and arrogant postulations of the academics. We can, along with our Savior, give praise to God, who hid the gospel from those who regard themselves as too “wise and prudent” to humbly accept revealed truth, but made the glorious words of salvation readily available to “babes” (Matthew 11:25). The word of God has never been well-suited to those who think that mankind can solve all of his own problems. Rather, it is for those who recognize that “it is not in man who walks to direct his own steps” (Jeremiah 10:23).
Evidences of Faith: The Suffering Servant
In the eighth chapter of the book of Acts, we find Philip the evangelist being sent by God to the deserted road that led from…
Evidences of Faith: Stubborn as a Mule
At some point, we stubborn humans are going to have to submit to the even more stubborn facts, and confess that the great evolutionary processes that our children are forced to learn in school do not exist – outside of the imagination of man. There is a God in heaven, and we ought to stop trying to explain Him away.
Evidences of Faith: Noah’s Baptism
One of the great events of the Old Testament, the Flood, was arranged by God to foreshadow New Testament baptism. This tells us something about the importance of baptism; it is not some minor doctrinal point, but a significant part of God’s plan of salvation.
The Genesis Flood: Regional or Global?
There are some who insist that the account of Noah and the Flood is an exaggeration at best, and a downright myth at worst. Unfortunately, there are even some who claim to believe the Bible who insist that the Flood was a local phenomenon. They claim that the Flood was limited to the region of Mesopotamia, a region prone to flooding. In this article, we will examine this claim from two distinct angles. First, we will see what the Bible says about the Flood. Then, we will see whether there is any external evidence to support the Bible’s account.
Scientific Evidences of a Young Earth
Even if there were no direct “scientific” evidence to show that the earth is as young as the Bible claims, we would need to see something very solid and convincing to shake our faith in the scriptural record. As it turns out, however, there is evidence based upon modern scientific research that is consistent with the account of creation in Genesis. Therefore, we have even more abundant reason to be absolutely confident in the Bible as the inerrant word of God.
Evidences of Faith: Many Books, One God
Throughout the Old Testament, God’s character does not vary on this point: there are numerous examples of God’s love and mercy, and yet He never loses sight of justice. And when we get to the New Testament, we find that God is still concerned with justice; He does not ignore the problem of sin.
Evidences of Faith: Attack of the Atheists
If it is reasonable to believe in God and the Bible, on what grounds do the atheists assert the opposite? For one thing, they claim that the Bible is riddled with contradictions. Of course, if this is so, then there is reason to doubt its inspiration. Therefore, let us ask the question, “Does the Bible contradict itself?”
Evidences of Faith: Documentation of the Bible
The manuscript evidence for the New Testament is truly overwhelming. If we approach the subject objectively, we must admit that all of the manuscript evidence points to the genuineness and authenticity of the books. They were written when they claim to have been written, and by whom they claim to have been written. Moreover, the text we have today is true to the original documents. Any claim, then, that “the Bible has been changed”, or that “the Gospels were written generations after the fact”, is demonstrably false. Consequently, any argument or doctrine built upon such a claim necessarily falls apart. Whenever we pick up a literal translation of the Bible, we have in our hands a substantially accurate rendition of some authentic – and very important – ancient documents.
Evidences of Faith: Ancient Alphabet
We must conclude that the people who developed the ancient Chinese written language were aware of the same account of the creation and earliest history of man that is recorded in the Bible. This is a powerful testimony to the truthfulness and accuracy of the scriptural record.
Evidences of Faith: The Blood of the Lamb
In this present case, the book of Exodus was written about fifteen hundred years before the New Testament was begun, yet somehow the author could foreshadow the cross of Christ.
Evidences of Faith: A Prophet Like Moses
The book of Deuteronomy, which was written somewhere around 1450 BC, records the final words of Moses to the nation of Israel, before their long-awaited…
Evidences of Faith: Why the Dinosaur Bird Won’t Fly
the only viable option to the General Theory of Evolution is the account given in the first chapter of Genesis. There are too many people – evolutionary scientists among them – who are not willing to accept this account, or to submit to its implications.
Evidences of Faith: A Man Named James
Josephus’ account provides us with corroborating testimony not only of Jesus’ existence, but also of the fact that He was called Christ. It also harmonizes with the New Testament claim that Jesus had a brother named James who became a prominent disciple, and that the early disciples were persecuted by the sanhedrim. These things being so, we have yet one more piece of evidence to suggest that the biblical account is accurate and reliable.
Evidences of Faith: Eyewitness Testimony
Moreover, when we read Paul’s writings (Romans through Philemon), it appears that he was a highly intelligent man who had a completely rational mind: his method of argumentation is thoroughly logical. It is reasonable to conclude, based upon the available evidence, that Paul was in his right mind. We have every reason, therefore, to regard Paul as a reliable eyewitness of the resurrected Christ.
Evidences of Faith: The Snake on the Pole
The result of the snake bite was death, as is the case with sin. The bronze serpent was raised up on a pole for all to see, as was Jesus on the cross. And Jesus on the cross, like the snake on the pole, represented the very thing for which He was the cure. Thus the incident with the fiery serpents provides us with another vivid foreshadow of Jesus, a foreshadow written 1500 years before He offered Himself for us.
Evidences of Faith: Delivered from Slavery
The parallels between the passing through the Red Sea and baptism into Christ are extensive. This is just one more example of why this volume of sixty-six books written by over forty authors over some fourteen hundred years, cannot be a mere collection of interesting stories.
Evidences of Faith: Going to the Ants
The programs on my computer were written by intelligent beings; in fact, it is inconceivable that they should have happened by accident. The ants’ programs appear to be even more complex than those on my computer. Am I to believe they happened by chance?
